Red Bull Heavy Metal is a single-day street snowboard contest that features the most progressive rail riding in the world.
After an incredible event in 2024, Red Bull Heavy Metal will return to the Minnesota State Capitol Building for an encore performance on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
The Riders
A trio of snowboarding legends, Tommy Gesme, Mikey Leblanc, and Mary Walsh have been tapped to judge the contest.
The confirmed rider list consists of male and female competitors from across North America and Europe. The mix of veterans and up-and-coming talent should make for quite an exciting contest.

Last Chance Qualifier
Similar to 2024’s event, Red Bull Heavy Metal will once again open the competitor’s field to the public with a Last Chance Qualifier being held at Buck Hill in Burnsville.
More information, including date and registration details for the qualifier, will be released in January 2025.

Street Snowboarding is a discipline of snowboarding that celebrates creativity and features riders performing tricks on obstacles that are often found outside of ski resorts trails including handrails, ledges, stairs, fences, and gaps
When Does This Event Take Place?
Gates will open at 1 p.m. with action happening from 2-5 p.m.
How to Get to the Event?
There are a variety of parking options around the Capitol Building including parking ramps and metered parking. Please see a map of the surrounding area here: Capitol Complex Visitor Map.
Please note that the stretch of John Ireland Boulevard leading to the Capitol will be closed for the event and parking will there not be permitted.

Is This Event Free to Attend?
Yes, this event is free for spectators.
What Should I Bring?
The event takes place outdoors so please dress appropriately.
The following items are also allowed: collapsible chairs, blankets, baby strollers, food and beverages (no alcohol is permitted on Capitol Grounds), binoculars, personal camera equipment.
