SAINT PAUL, Minn. – After nearly a month of online voting, Saint Paul, Minnesota has been named “Best Romantic N. American Getaway” by 10best a division of USA Today Travel. The capital of Minnesota beat competing cities that include Naples, FL, Savannah, GA and Santa Fe, NM for the recognition.
Described by the publication as “the smaller, quieter and, many say, the more sophisticated of the Twin Cities,” the publication notes couples “love it for its diverse romantic offerings, like leisurely paddle- wheeler rides along the Mississippi, beer tastings, ice skating and a thriving performance arts scene.”
To highlight the award, Visit Saint Paul is running an online giveaway for a romantic getaway for two to Saint Paul including airfare for two on Delta Air Lines, two nights at The Saint Paul Hotel and gift certificates to some of the city’s most romantic restaurants including Pazzaluna, The Downtowner Woodfire Grill, The Liffey, Mickey’s Diner and others. People can enter at www.visitsaintpaul.com/romance. The winner will be announced on Valentine’s Day.
“We are thrilled to claim this award as Best Romantic N. American Getaway,” said Adam Johnson, Vice President of Marketing for Visit Saint Paul. “While we have always promoted Saint Paul’s romantic side, it is great to have the third party validation of 10best and USA Today.”
The Saint Paul Hotel, recently named to Travel + Leisure’s ‘Top 500 World’s Best Hotels of 2014’ list, is a popular choice for couples looking for romance because of its trademark style, sophistication and old world charm.
“We’ve always considered ourselves to be in the business of romance,” said David Miller, General Manager of The Saint Paul Hotel and Board Member of Visit Saint Paul. “To be recognized by a national publication like this will only strengthen the city’s reputation.”
Winner of the three-day, two-night Romantic Getaway will enjoy all that Saint Paul has to offer including food, culture, history and luxury and must book the trip by December 31, 2014.
