Overview
Cadenza All Stars is a local Twin Cities Jazz Quartet made up of private music instructors at Cadenza Music in St. Paul, performing standards and originals. These talented jazz performers have long been stalwarts in the local jazz scene. Saxophonist Jeff King can also be seen performing with the Kurt Jorgensen Band. He has released recordings under his own name, and with the powerhouse trio “King Fletcher Woods”. Guitarist Joel Shapira is a nationally acclaimed musician and is a leader and/or member of multiple top Twin Cities’ jazz ensembles. He has also recorded several albums; a recent gem is his “Triple Bridge” recording. Drummer Eron Woods performs regularly with multiple Twin Cities jazz groups including funky jazz group “Pocket Groovers”, and has enjoyed an eclectic career, working on cruise ships, touring with circuses, and performing with flamenco groups. He can be heard on recordings including albums from Nick Haas Trio, Grant Hart, and Mandragora Tango. Erik Fratzke is a composer/performer/educator based in St. Paul, Minnesota. Best known for his work as the bassist of Happy Apple, he also leads his own quartet, Fake Accent. He is also a member of Craig Taborn’s Junk Magic, and Cory Healey’s Beautiful Sunshine Band. As a guitarist, Erik is a member of The Dave King Trucking Company, the avant-metal group Abhorrent Expanse, Scott Miller’s Fifth Column Ensemble, The Gang Font feat. Greg Norton, as well as the leader of the instrumental rock group Zebulon Pike. His compositions have been performed and recorded by the new music group Zeitgeist. Erik has performed/recorded with Tim Berne, Ethan Iverson, Adam Levy, Michel Portal, Rhys Chatham, Airto, Benoit Delbec, and Yoshida Tatsuya (Ruins).
